Eric and Sarah had 4 young biological children when they became foster parents in 2015. Not knowing what this call on their life would end up looking like in the future, they were excited for their family to serve in this way. During their training, a passion to support the family as a whole, instead of just the child in their care, was ignited. Through every placement, this passion grew and they learned the importance of supporting the child's parents. Not only were they able to advocate for vulnerable children, but for the whole family as well. In every situation, past and present, they have been able to encourage healing and reunification. Although their foster care and shared parenting journey has been challenging at times, the support they receive from likeminded individuals is a huge encouragement. The desire for other foster families to catch this "Shared Parenting" vision and be supported by community, led to the launch of Fostering Families AZ in August of 2022.
Skip and Erin felt led to become a foster family in 2015. They had a desire to not only foster children, but to come alongside families and be a support to them as they worked toward reunifying. Eventually, their foster parenting journey took them in the direction of adopting their youngest son and closing their license. Being supported by others in their community while fostering was a huge encouragement and vital to their family. Being a part of Fostering Families AZ is an opportunity for Erin to still play a part in the foster care world that she feels so passionate about.
